Below the fold: responsive design
prototyping websites and apps
Responsive design involves creating
prototypes for the different
devices and sizes you expect your
audience to use.
The aim is to demonstrate and test the
design and functionality of your
website or app.
What is responsive design?
Apps and websites exist on the users device. This is a situation
outside of the designers control.
This means you need to prototype for likely situations. This normally
means at least mobile and
desktop widths.
A web page can be viewed on a huge array of physical devices, from
small mobile phones to high resolution desktops.
The browser can be resized into almost any shape, mobile phones can be
rotated and each phone model is different.
Your design needs to respond to these changes. Hence
the term responsive design.
How do i demonstrate responsive design
You want your site to work on any device. Practicality means you
choose a number of likely options.
Many prototyping tools allow you to choose from many preset device
resolutions. So choose a few and consider why these are important for
your project.
The minimum prototypes for a website should be
desktop and mobile, you could do
more if you want to explore further.
